First Experience

When I at the first time came to the United States in 2009, I noticed something interesting that really surprised me. It was the nutrition information or facts about particular food product listing all its ingredients that were included in it. Whether ingredients were healthy or not, all of them were there usually on the back side of the wrap. I tried to ask myself why this information is approachable almost everywhere on every single food product. For example, in my home country Kazakhstan it is too difficult to find such sort of information on products. Yet, I had never thought about it. Then, I gradually realized the main reason why these nutrition facts are on the food products. Maybe because of health care issues, the government of the US enforced all food companies working in the US to provide credible nutrition information about food products to their customers. As a matter of fact, it is good way to make people aware about the quality of the food; they always have an option what to buy pertaining to the nutrition facts and somehow taking care of their health. Nice idea, isn't it?

  1. You are exactly right, Akhan. The government requires it and we are used to it. I would be shocked to see a container without the nutrition information!

  2. As I know, the governmet of Korea also force the company to put the imforamion about what kind of ingredients are included, but actually the matter is that not many people are interested in reading that information. None of my friends cares about what ingredients are in the food and what it means. It is nothing but a formal policy.
(Anyway, is this your first blog? or should I wait more until you post your real first one? )

  3. Yeah! It is reasonable idea to give a short description to each term in a nutrition information, because sometimes people don't have a clue what they mean. Maybe because of that they don't know and care about it.

  4. Akhan we have such information in almost every product in Kazakhstan don't we? Yes, I accept the fact that this information isn't as detailed as it is here in US. But we have some information, and generally it shows only good ingredients)))
